  19. I'm trying to create a deflector shield effect similar to that seen on any
  20. number of the modern Star Trek series. You know, the egg shaped object
  21. around a ship that glows lightly when hit.

  23. I can create the glow by fiddling with the transparency envelope of the
  24. egg, but is there a way to make it glow in just one spot? (Maybe some
  25. specularity setting or something along with a light source???)

  27. Any ideas or suggestions for surface settings for a deflector shield object
  28. would be greatly appreciated. (Maybe I can map an EXPLOSION onto my
  29. shields!)
